Reading Fun

I finished reading “The Giver” by Lois Lowry tonight. I read the book to get a little escape from the Japanese exercises I normally do. The book was actually decent I think but the ending was a little weird for me: it left it too open to interpretation. I’ve also gotten so used to the writing styles of Terry Goodkind that the entire book of “The Giver” seemed like it could have been merely a short chapter in a Goodkind book.

I’ve started reading “窓ぎわのトットちゃん” (The Little Girl at the Window) by 黒柳徹子 (Tetsuko Kuroyanagi) more than a week ago. It’s the original Japanese version of the book, so it’s a bit of a slow read for me at this point, but the story is entertaining so far. School is starting this week so I hope to read a lot more of this book in the labs and library after/before class.

When I finish that book, I’ll begin “ずっと、ずっと、あなたのそばに” (Forever by Your Side) by 若月かおり (Kaori Wakatsuki).
